Bounce Privacy Policy

Effective July 3, 2026

In short: Bounce is a Screen Time focus app. Your app-usage and blocking data is processed on your device by Apple's Screen Time system and is never visible to us. We store only what the app needs to work — your account, your limits and focus-session stats, and (if you use the Coach) the minimum needed to answer you. We don't show ads, don't sell data, and don't track you across other apps.

1. Screen Time and app blocking

Bounce uses Apple's Screen Time frameworks (Family Controls and Device Activity) to let you block or limit distracting apps. Which apps you use, for how long, and which apps you choose to block are handled by Apple's system on your device. Apple gives apps like Bounce only opaque tokens for your selections — we cannot see the names of the apps you pick or your usage history, and none of this data is sent to our servers.

2. Your account

You can sign in with Apple, Google, or an email address and password. We store your name and email address (as provided by the sign-in method you choose) so you can sign in on your devices and so your data syncs. Authentication is handled by Google Firebase.

3. Data we sync to keep the app working

The following is stored in our backend (Google Firebase / Firestore), tied to your account and accessible only to you:

4. The Coach (AI assistant)

Bounce includes an optional Coach you can chat with. When you send the Coach a message, your message — along with any context you've chosen to share (see section 5) — is sent to our server, which forwards it to our AI provider, Anthropic (anthropic.com), to generate a single reply. Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, this data is not used to train their models.

Your Coach conversation history is stored on your device only — we do not keep a copy of your chats on our servers.

5. Optional Coach context — you choose what to connect

To give more useful answers, the Coach can use context you explicitly turn on in Coach → Connections. Every source is optional, off by default, and can be disconnected at any time.

Notes and to-dos

"What I'm working on" notes and to-dos you type into Bounce are included in your Coach chats so it knows what you're trying to get done.

Bounce activity

Your Bounce stats for today — focus sessions run, focused minutes, your current streak, and the names you gave your limits (for example "Social Media") — can be included when you chat so the Coach knows how your day is going. This is the same data described in section 3; no Apple Screen Time usage data is involved (see section 1).

Apple Calendar and Reminders

If you grant access, Bounce reads your upcoming events and reminders on your device. A short summary of them is included only in the moment you send a Coach message; it is not stored on our servers.

Connected accounts (Google Calendar & Gmail) — optional

What we access. If you connect Google Calendar, we read your upcoming calendar events (titles, times, and locations) for the next 7 days. If you connect Gmail, we read only metadata from your recent inbox messages — the sender, subject line, and date. We never read the body or contents of your emails, and we request the minimum Google permissions needed (calendar.events.readonly and gmail.metadata).

How it's used. When you send a message to the Coach, we fetch a small, recent slice of this information on our server, distill it into a short summary, and include it in that single request to our AI provider (Anthropic) so the Coach can reference what's actually on your plate. This happens only at the moment you chat.

What we store. We do not store your calendar events or email metadata. The only thing we retain is a Google refresh token, which lets our server fetch this data on your behalf when you chat. That token is encrypted at rest and stored on our backend (Google Firebase) where it is accessible only to our server, never to the app or other users. Disconnecting your Google account in the app revokes the token with Google and deletes it from our backend.

Sharing. We do not sell this data or use it for advertising or tracking. The only third party that receives the distilled context is our AI provider (Anthropic), solely to generate your Coach's reply.

Google API Services — Limited Use disclosure. Bounce's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically: we use Google user data only to provide and improve the in-app Coach feature you connected it for; we do not transfer it to others except as needed to provide that feature (to our AI provider to generate a response), for security, or to comply with law; we do not use it for advertising; and no humans read your Google data except where you explicitly request support, for security, or as required by law.

6. Subscriptions and purchases

Purchases are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status (which plan you're on and whether it's active). We never see your payment card details.

7. Service providers

We share data only with the services that make Bounce work, only for the purposes above:

Each provider is bound by its data-processing and API terms to protect your data to at least the same standard described in this policy, and may use it only to provide its service to us — never for its own advertising or other unrelated purposes.

8. What we don't do

9. Data retention and deleting your data

Your data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in Settings inside the app, which deletes your account and its synced data from our backend. Disconnecting a Google account revokes and deletes its token immediately. Coach chat history lives on your device and is removed when you delete the app or clear it in the app.

10. Children

Bounce is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

11. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update this page and the effective date above, and note the change in the app where appropriate.
